It has been discussed several times in previous editions of FXT: strict European legislation makes it difficult for food tech startups to bring their innovative products to the market. Many promising companies therefore move to the US. At FXT25 we will critically test this statement with an expert in the field. What are the opportunities and challenges for European food tech? Don't miss this discussion!
Katia Merten-Lentz, resident partner and founder/manager of the law firm "Food Law Science & Partners", has been a leading practitioner in European food and feed law for over 25 years (one of the four Chambers and Partners first-tier ranked lawyers in the Regulatory: Agro/Food—Europe-Wide category, and she is also recognized by The Legal 500 in both Belgium and France as a Leading Individual in the EU Regulatory Food category).
Her practice also extends to Biotechnologies, Environmental Law and Cosmetics Law. She is one of the few lawyers who assists clients from A to Z in the field of food and feed in obtaining European authorization for new additives, enzymes, novel foods and guides them in issues ranging from marketing (labeling and claims) to innovation (nanomaterials, genetically modified organisms, new breeding techniques), thanks to her in-house scientific support.
Ms Merten-Lentz is a former member of the Council of the Paris Bar. She holds degrees in EU competition law and corporate law and is fluent in French and English.
